Tucked away behind the Lake Moondarra Dam wall is Warrina Park; affectionately called “Peacock Park” by the locals, and for good reason. It is home to a multitude of near tame, yet wild Peafowl.
Story is that many, many years ago; the General Manager of Mount Isa Mines had with him at his residence a few peafowl. These peafowl would happily roam, and naturally breed. Sometime after this General Manager and his family moved on, the Peafowl family was relocation to Warrina Park.
Here, they have successfully continued to breed, and delight all that visit the lovely little park.
