Fiona Lumsden
Fiona Lumsden grew up in the small village of Mt Wilson amidst the wilderness of the Greater Blue Mountains National Park. It was there that she began learning about the birds, animals and plants of the wild places that surrounded her. Direct nature experience has been the bedrock for her detailed nature-artworks for over 40 years.
In more recent times, she has called on her accumulated nature knowledge to create complex regional bird ID art posters. Each poster has over 100 bird species painted on them, all in associated habitat. All have a numbered key for identification. They have proved very popular: helping people to begin to name and love the birds that live alongside us.
Fiona hopes to draw attention to the plight of our wild species – many of which she has seen become increasingly rare over the years she has been studying them.
